Who Am I?

Hi, I'm Doug Pepper.  In 2016, I joined Shasta Ventures as a Managing Director.   Prior to Shasta, I was a partner at InterWest since 2000, investing in SaaS, mobile and internet companies.  I was fortunate enough to be the first investor in Marketo (MKTO).  I am also a board member of Appboy, Spredfast, NewsCred, Tapjoy, INVIDI and Badgeville.

Other investments include, Optimizely, TotangoFlurry (acquired by Yahoo) and Lombardi Software (acquired by IBM).  I am also a personal investor in leading seed investors Freestyle Capital and Homebrew.

I previously served as a board observer of Markettools (acquired by SurveyMonkey) and Epocrates (EPOC).  Other prior investments include Bloomspot (acquired by JP Morgan Chase), Brand.net (acquired by Valassis), Schoolfeed (acquired by Classmates.com), Active Reasoning (acquired by Oracle), Carwoo (acquired by Truecar) and Varolii (acquired by Nuance Communications)

Prior to joining InterWest, I worked briefly in business development at Amazon.com. I started my career as an Analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York.  In this role, I also spent time in Hong Kong, working with technology clients in China, India and Korea.

I received my B.A. from Dartmouth College (1995), and my M.B.A. from Stanford University (2000).

I live in Burlingame, CA with my wife, Kim, and our three kids (Andrew - 9, Katie - 7, Molly - 6).
